Hello,
definitely, but you will have to override the module's CSS and add a few CSS properties to make it work.
You have to be familiar with stylesheets in order to do so.
Give each news item a width close to 50% (like 48% so you can have space between the columns, margin-left: 1%). Make them float (float: left). That should be enough. Make sure you have enough room in the module's container though.
